Welcome to Willow Legal Advisors! Willow Legal Advisors is a small but growing law firm located in the rolling hills of West Virginia. Willow’s roots and mission are best described by sharing the story of how our founder, Sarah Moore, started designing a law firm that would provide her with an interesting and dynamic practice in the heart of her home state, West Virginia. Directly after finishing law school, Sarah started practicing corporate law in Houston, Texas for a large, Texas-based law firm. However, eventually, she chose to relocate to north-central West Virginia to be closer to both her family and her roots. Once in West Virginia, Sarah continued her legal practice with a large, international law firm via remote work from her home. In a pre-Covid environment, a remote legal practice seemed like a luxury, however, Sarah’s grueling travel schedule eventually had her daydreaming of something different.
It was at this time that Sarah realized that she was ready to try something she had not yet seen any other attorney do. She wanted to maintain the interesting and sophisticated legal practice she loved but virtually from her home state. She didn’t have any examples of an attorney that had built such a practice, but she designed her dream practice anyway. Finally, after two years of practicing remotely, in 2019, Sarah left “big law” to establish Willow Legal Advisors.
Through Willow Legal Advisors, Sarah continued her corporate practice remotely and began serving various private equity sponsors as a contract attorney for their in-house legal departments. Willow Legal Advisors’ private equity practice grew rapidly, and in 2021, Willow hired its first associate attorney.
While Willow Legal Advisors was seeing great success with its virtual practice, Sarah sought personal connection. She got involved with local organizations and started meeting more like-minded professionals. As she explained her practice to people, she realized that many local businesses and business owners had a need for experienced corporate counsel. With this realization, Willow Legal Advisors began growing within its own community, and Sarah learned what a privilege it truly is to support businesses and people in her home state.
Although Willow Legal Advisors will always retain its status as a transaction-based boutique law firm (i.e., no litigation!), Willow’s offered legal services have rapidly expanded to meet the demands of its growing client base. In response to client requests, Willow Legal Advisors has assisted clients with real estate needs, advised nonprofit boards, and even developed vast experience in estate planning. It has been such a pleasure to help clients with their businesses and personal affairs and in shaping and protecting their legacies.
Just as originally envisioned upon formation in 2019, the Willow Legal Advisors of today is absolutely committed to two missions: (1) to offer sophisticated, reliable, and cost-effective solutions to corporate and private equity’s in-house legal departments across the country and (2) to serve as a trusted advisor to local businesses, business owners and the people within Willow’s shared community. And, though Willow Legal Advisors’ mission is twofold, Willow attorneys share one common purpose – to help each client rest easier at night because they know their legal affairs are in good hands.
